Utpal Sheth is the CEO of Rare Enterprises. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst from The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India with an All India Gold Medal in one of the final groups. He is a Cost and Works Accountant from The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Mumbai University – Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics.

Utpal Sheth is CEO and Senior partner of Rare Group which is proprietary asset management firm with AUM exceeding ~$1Bn. His focus therein is on long term investing in public and private markets, portfolio construction and stock picking. He engages with investee companies to enhance shareholder value by emphasizing sustainable value drivers.

He is a Founder and Mentor of Trust Group and Chanakya Wealth Creation. They are the leading fixed income firm which has evolved into a full –service financial services firm. In trust group his focus is on strategy, institutionalization and team building. In Chanakya wealth creation he co-manages the portfolio and is involved in investment strategy and portfolio weights.

Earlier he has been associated : As a Principal Relationship Manager with Enam Financial Consultants, an Investment Banking firm he was engaged in fund raising, merger & arbitrage, buybacks and corporate advisory transactions. As a director with HRS Insight Financial Intermediaries, a financial intermediation firm engaged in Institutional, HNI and Retail Sales he was responsible for business development, strategy and team building. As a CEO with Insight Asset Management, an Equity research, portfolio management and corporate advisory firm he created and led a team responsible for in-depth sector and company reports and conducted ‘Shareholder value creation’ engagements and sharing learning’s and findings with boards and senior management teams of companies. As Head of Research with ASK Financial Consultants, an equity research and portfolio advisory firm he was a research analyst and progressed to head of research

Utpal Sheth holds directorships in publicly listed companies such as Aptech Ltd., NCC Ltd., Cinemax India Limited.

Utpal Sheth has been a contributor and consultant to Express Investment Week which is an investment magazine of financial express newspaper, focus on industry analysis using financial aggregates and key ratios. He has co-authored the book India’s Money Monarchs which profiles investment philosophy and approach of some of India’s best investors.

He has been a visiting faculty for capital market related courses of UTI Institute of Capital Markets, National Institute of Financial Management, IIS Institute of Management (ENPC India ) and NM Institute of Management studies (NMIMS) . He has been a speaker at Global India Business Meeting which is organized by Horasis every year which brings together leading thinkers and practitioners from the corporate and financial world.
