A Hindi play, A Doubtful Gaze at Uber at Midnight (Dir. Alok Rajwade/Playwright. Dharmakirti Sumant) on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 9.00 am at Kalidas. The one hour play will be followed by the discussion with the team of artists.
Synopsis:
A monologue. Saket is on phone. Duration: An hour or approximately infinite time. Saket (30), unemployed, has called an Uber to reach home in the midnight. Saket’s girlfriend Chima is possibly pregnant and panicking whilst Suna a self-proclaimed Urban Naxal has been caught watching porn and smoking home grown weed in Saket’s house. While telling directions to the Uber driver, Saket encounters a balloon seller girl whose eyes are the symbol of everything that has gone wrong since the birth of India as a nation. As the midnight gets darker and darker, we realize that the roads Saket was telling never existed. Maybe the Uber driver didn’t exist at all either.
