The workshop will trace historical debates about how intuition and observation shape human knowledge, and discuss their relevance in today's world, where it's commonly believed that data (a set of observations) 'is the new oil' and where Artificial Intelligence is making significant impacts in almost every domain of society. In particular, the workshop will discuss how this push towards data-driven knowledge generation and the application of Artificial Intelligence has increased the use of 'technology' in seemingly unrelated fields of academia, such as biology, economics, psychology, medicine and social sciences.
