Akshaya D., a second-year undergraduate student at FLAME University, recently had the distinguished opportunity to participate in the Harvard Conference 2025. Her academic rigor, commitment to social change, and engagement with FLAME’s dynamic learning environment have enabled her to represent the university on this prestigious global platform.
Pursuing a major in Economics and a minor in Business Analytics, Akshaya has actively engaged in multiple extracurricular pursuits that have refined her skills and broadened her perspectives. Reflecting on her journey to the conference, she emphasizes the pivotal role of FLAME University’s interdisciplinary education, faculty mentorship, and world-class resources in shaping her path:
“FLAME University has been the bridge between me and opportunities I never even dreamed of a year ago.”
Akshaya’s dedication to addressing pressing societal challenges has been evident from an early stage. During high school, she authored Hues of Hope, a book that sheds light on the rising student suicide rates in India. Her deep concern for social issues led her to recognize the complexities of policymaking and the urgent need for accountability. As she reflects on her motivation for attending the Harvard Conference, she shares:
“I knew I wanted to do something about it, maybe start a campaign, maybe write more but I had no idea where to begin. That’s what led me here, to this Harvard conference, where I had the opportunity to engage with global leaders, contribute to meaningful discussions, and develop solutions to some of the world’s most critical challenges. It was also a chance to share my ideas and make a difference, even in the smallest way.”
Beyond academics, Akshaya has accumulated over a year of industry experience with Cloudtech, all while maintaining a strong academic record, engaging in sports, and seizing opportunities like the Harvard Conference. She attributes this ability to balance multiple commitments to FLAME University’s holistic approach to education:
“How I have been able to balance everything is proof of how FLAME nurtures both growth and real-world experiences. The clubs, the events, the people-this place has taught me lessons beyond the classroom: collaboration, leadership, and the ability to create tangible impact.”
