On 8 November 2017 Dr. Pavan Mamidi, co-Director of the Centre for Experimental Social Sciences (CESS) Nuffield – FLAME University, was invited to speak at the third IoTNext conference organized by the global entrepreneurship non-profit TiE in Bangalore. TiE is a global community of entrepreneurs that seeks to grow the most promising enterprises in India through five key avenues: mentoring, networking, education, incubating, and funding. Its signature conference, IoTNext, focuses on the latest trends in Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and the influence of this emerging field on business and society.
The third installment of IoTNext was titled “Beyond the Hype: Pilots to Scale” and was centered around the challenges that IoT practitioners face scaling up promising technologies. Dr. Mamidi participated on the panel discussion “Are We a Managed Generation?”, drawing on his experience as a behavioral and experimental social science researcher. The conference included sessions on artificial intelligence and analytics; transportation, e-mobility, and logistics; and IoT innovation and security in the Indian context. Other invited speakers included Dr. Gulshan Rai, National Cyber Security - Prime Minister's Office; Mr. Priyank Kharge, Minister IT & BT, Tourism - Govt of Karnataka; and Dr. Aloknath De, Chief Technology Officer at Samsung India.
