The Global Liberal Arts Alliance (GLAA) is an international, multilateral partnership of American style liberal arts institutions with the goal of supporting excellence in liberal arts education on a transnational basis. The Great Lakes Colleges Association, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, coordinates the activities and projects of the Alliance and was instrumental in its formation. The only global alliance of its kind, the GLAA presently has 29 institutions representing 17 nations in the Alliance membership. The Alliance was formally founded at a meeting of Presidents in Washington, D.C. in 2009. Since that time, there have been additional leadership meetings in Morocco, Bulgaria, Athens, Slovakia and most recently in Hong Kong.
The Global Liberal Arts Alliance seeks to serve as a beacon for educational leaders, faculty members and administrators. Its purpose is to exchange knowledge, expertise and experience among institutions committed to education in the tradition of the liberal arts and sciences. FLAME University is the first Indian institution to be selected in this prestigious alliance.
