NMIMS, in association with FinShiksha conducted its flagship pan-India equity research competition, 'Moolyankan'. This competition tested knowledge of how equity research is conducted, how stocks are valued, how industries operate during good and bad times, and more importantly, how to gauge competitive dynamics.
In the competition, 882 teams comprising of two to three students each from various B-schools from all over India participated. Out of these teams, 40 teams were shortlisted in the initial stages from which the top 7 teams were invited for the final round. The top seven teams included
- IIM Kozhikode
- IIM Trichy,
- IIM Amritsar
- Two teams from NMIMS Mumbai
- FLAME University
- IMT Ghaziabad
The FLAME University team consisting of MBA students, Raj Shah, Pratik Gandhi and Prashant Doshi won this prestigious competition. Their research was on Interglobe Aviation. The other companies that the teams could conduct their research on included MRF, Symphony, Britannia and Voltas.
The overall competition was carried out in three stages - Online Quiz (16 October 2017), Equity Research Submission (25 October 2017), and On-Campus Presentation in the finale (5 November 2017).
The competition was judged by industry experts with years of experience in equity research. Their valuable insights helped in honing research skills of the participating students.
