The Centre for Experimental Social Sciences (CESS) Nuffield – FLAME University welcomed Ramaswami Mahalingam, Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor on 10 January 2017. Professor Mahalingam’s work focuses on the linkages between the following three major areas of research: (a) Mindful mindset; (b) Cell Phones and Self; and (c) Dignity in the work place. He heads the Mindful Connections Lab in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
During his visit to FLAME, Professor Mahalingam held a public lecture titled “Mindful Mindset, Interconnectedness and Engaged Living.” During his talk, he explained his most recent research on the psychological impact of what he terms the “mindfulness framework.” He shared early results from his ongoing work with the FLAME community, which suggest that mindfulness living is associated with increased generosity, cultural humility, compassion, and critical intersectional awareness.
