Annual Education Summit at American University in Cairo Featured 16 Universities
The Babson Collaborative has honored FLAME University and Université Laval for efforts to support entrepreneurship education.
The Babson Collaborative for Entrepreneurship Education is an institutional membership organization for colleges and universities seeking to increase capabilities and capacities for developing entrepreneurship education. Members of The Collaborative share the belief that institutions acting together achieve more than each working alone toward its entrepreneurial mission and goals.
"We are impressed by FLAME University and Université Laval's exemplary efforts to advance entrepreneurship education at their institutions and thrilled to formally recognize and celebrate them with these awards," said Amir Reza, Dean of the Babson Academy & Global Education.
Collaborative Spotlight Award
Université Laval (Quebec City, Canada) received the Collaborative Spotlight Award, accepted by Maripier Tremblay, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Business Administration and Scientific Director of Université Laval.
The Spotlight Award is presented annually to a Collaborative member institution that demonstrates excellence and innovation in entrepreneurship education. The award highlights a member institution's commitment to enhancing entrepreneurship education and a willingness to share and promulgate best practice and new possibilities. The award is not for an entire program related to entrepreneurship, but rather for a particular innovation in entrepreneurship education that is making a significant impact.
Université Laval received the award in recognition of the successful launch two years ago and subsequent impact of its Entrepreneurship Academy. This Academy assists students and alumni to launch and grow high potential businesses with the support of the highly regarded Université Laval staff and has resulted in the creation of twenty-six businesses to date.
The Scientific Director, Maripier Tremblay, was honoured to receive this award which recognizes the excellence of the Académie de la relève entrepreneuriale-CDPQ program. "Université Laval has long been invested in entrepreneurship, but more than ever committed to supporting pedagogical innovation in order to develop entrepreneurs and agents of change wishing to contribute to the well-being of society on all plans. This honour is shared with all the colleagues and the partners who made it possible," she said.

Collaborative Member of the Year Award
FLAME University (Pune, India) received the Collaborative Member of the Year Award, accepted by Darshan Doshi 'M13, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
The Member of the Year Award is presented annually to the Collaborative member institution most active in the following categories: faculty development; student engagement; affiliation and networking; strengthening intellectual vitality; and entrepreneurial commitment.
"Babson Collaborative is a great initiative to bring together thought leaders, executives and educators from entrepreneurship discipline around the world. We, FLAME University, are proud to associate with Babson College through the Babson Collaborative to enable and support us to create a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem at FLAME University. Last year has been a new beginning as we launched the FLAME Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (FCEI) and with it a series of new entrepreneurship initiatives that support our students as well as the wider startup ecosystem in India. 2019 Member of the Year Award reflects our efforts and inspires us to achieve our goal of creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem that supports and nurtures all types of entrepreneurs," said Doshi.

Babson Collaborative Summit
The fourth annual Babson Collaborative Summit took place in March in Cairo and hosted 29 participants from 16 universities around the world.
The summit began with an introduction of the recently launched Babson Academy for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurial Learning, and concluded with an action plan for Collaborative members to advance collectively several specifics goals to advance entrepreneurship education in the months to come.
"The Babson Collaborative Summit was designed to build community and reenergize around new projects and partnerships. Babson College, as the convener, was thrilled to support and grow this global network of institutions advancing entrepreneurship education. It's essential and impactful work," said Babson College Entrepreneurship Professor and Academic Director of the Babson Academy, Heidi Neck.
