My undergraduate study at FLAME University through its extensive choice of modules gave me the opportunity to truly engage with the various schools of Psychology. Modules on abnormal psychology, counselling psychology and social psychology ignited my interest in integrating cultural factors into practice. The coursework prompted me to explore clinical manifestations of mental illness within the Indian cultural context. In this regard, the Psychology professors were critical in allowing me to develop my niche, with freedom to explore subjects I feel passionately about. My professors also ardently encouraged and supported me in taking my research forward, where I published and presented my work at international and national conferences and publications. I believe that FLAME University is unique in providing students with real world exposure through their Discover India Program, internships and volunteering programmes. Upon graduation, I began to work with a mental health NGO and I believe my interdisciplinary education held me in good stead in this challenging setup.
