Academic Writing
This module provides training in developing and strengthening students' writing skills. Some of the topics covered in this course include Structuring Paragraphs, and Writing Academic, Descriptive and Narrative Essays. This course involves extensive writing exercises through which students learn various tools and tips to improve and effectuate their writing styles.
Critical Reasoning
This module introduces students to critical thinking as a tool. It equips students to critically evaluate both content from different academic disciplines.
Digital Literacy
This course is designed to expose students to cutting edge IT solutions and tools. This course introduces the use of information technology for academic purpose and decision making. It equips the students with skills necessary for enhancing their learning experience and decision making using tools, techniques and resources provided by IT.
Public Speaking and Debate
This course takes the students through a journey of different aspects and skills related to public speaking. This course is significant as it will enable students to express themselves with clarity and conviction at various levels enabling them to achieve their career goals. Every session that introduces students to a variety of modules will be coupled with interactive exercises to facilitate practice and delivery. The course will take a look at different types of speeches, presentation, discussion and debating skills. The performance of students in different activities will be monitored so that students and instructors can reflect on the strengths and flaws with a view to converting the flaws into strengths.
Introduction to Applied Ethics
This course is a fine balance between an introduction to prominent Ethical Theories and their application in real life situations. The students are expected to master basic ethical concepts and be able to identify theoretical frameworks of ethical positions taken in various situations.
Introduction to Environmental Studies
This course will focus on developing an understanding of the issues and factors that affect our natural environment. It will take a multidisciplinary approach to learn about the impact of human activity on our environment. Some of the topics which will be covered include: natural resources, ecosystems, biodiversity, conservation, effects of pollution, effects of population growth, environmental governance and sustainable development.
Mental Models - Frameworks For Thinking
This module assimilates big ideas from different disciplines inculcating habits of thinking.
Financial Literacy
This module provides exposure to personal finance tools and techniques to effectively manage available financial resources.
