About FLAME Undergraduate Research Day
The Undergraduate Research Committee of FLAME University is organizing the FLAME Undergraduate Research Day to provide an interdisciplinary platform to foster dialogue and collaboration among undergraduate students across diverse domains of knowledge. This year’s theme “Boundaries and Bridges in the Age of Disruption” explores critical challenges and transformative ideas in a rapidly evolving world and aims to bridge gaps in understanding, prioritize sustainability and equity, and embrace innovation while addressing ethical and societal concerns.
We invite abstracts based on primary and secondary empirical research, work in progress, conceptual and critical analyses, systematic reviews, case studies and proposed research that address these pressing issues, only from currently enrolled undergraduate students.
The FLAME Undergraduate Research Day will be held in fully offline mode on FLAME University campus in Pune.

Sub Themes
Participants may submit abstracts that pertain to the following sub-themes:
- Bridging the Gap Across Disciplines: Exploring the intersections of arts, sciences, technology, and humanities to address global challenges.
- Innovation and Ethics in the Age of Disruption: Balancing technological advancements with ethical considerations and societal impacts.
- Thinking Historically and Learning: Using historical perspectives to inform contemporary decision-making and future strategies.
- Environment and Sustainability: Tackling environmental challenges through innovative, practical, and policy-driven solutions.
- Crossing Boundaries, Reimagining Futures: Examining the dynamics of geopolitics, migration, and cultural exchange.
- Resilience: Investigating individual, community, and systemic responses to crises.
- Equity: Addressing disparities in gender, race, class, and access in various domains.
- Digitalization: Understanding the implications of digital transformations in education, economy, and culture.
- Health and Wellness: Exploring holistic approaches to physical and mental health and societal well-being.
Participants may also submit abstracts that do not align with any of the above sub-themes, provided the abstracts fit in with the overarching theme of the conference.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
- All abstracts must be written in English.
- Only original abstracts can be submitted. Please ensure that the same abstract (and paper title) is not submitted to other conferences.
- The cover page of the abstract document must include:
- Title of the Abstract
- Details of the author(s): Name(s), institutional affiliation, email address (The presenter should be listed as the first author)
- Abstract must be between 300-500 words (excluding cover page and keywords) and must include the following aspects:
- Background
- Aims and objectives
- Materials/methods (where applicable)
- Results/Main findings/Expected findings
- Conclusions and Implications
- A maximum of 7 key words should be placed under the abstract.
- Please note that the abstract document should be written in Times New Roman, 12 point. In addition, the title of the abstract must be in bold and centered.
- If generative and assistive AI has been used in preparing the abstract, author(s) are required to include a footnote in the abstract document mentioning the same. Failure to do so will result in the abstract not being considered for further processing.
- Abstracts must be strictly submitted on or before the deadline.

- Undergraduate students not studying at FLAME University are required to pay the registration fee of Rs. 700/- (the registration fees are inclusive of 18% GST).
- Undergraduate students from FLAME University are not required to pay the registration fees.
- Presenters may register for the FLAME Undergraduate Research Day after their abstracts are accepted for presentation.
- Once paid, registration fees will not be refunded or adjusted under any circumstances.
- Limited financial support is available for deserving students. Shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Prof. Sujata Sriram is a Professor and Dean at the School of Human Ecology (SHE), Tata Institute of Social Sciences, (TISS) Mumbai. She has been at TISS from 2003. Prior to her appointment at TISS, she was Reader in the Department of Human Development and Childhood Studies, Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi, Delhi. She was awarded the Fulbright Nehru Senior Research Fellowship, 2010-11, at the Department of Anthropology at the University of California San Diego. She has been in the field of higher education for over three decades. Before her stint at TISS, she taught at Delhi University. In TISS, in 2012, she was a part of the team that set up iCALL, the psychosocial helpline that offers counselling services over telephone, email and chat. In 2017, she was a part of the team developing an innovative project on training Patient Navigators for oncology called Kevat; set up in collaboration with the Tata Memorial Centre. She is on the task force setting up national guidelines for Acanthosis Nigricans. She has just published a book titled “Navigating the pandemic in India: Voices of Older Adults and Intersectional Realities” with Springer International, as an outcome of a recently completed research study.

Dr. Siddharth Mallavarapu is Professor at the Department of International Relations and Governance Studies, School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Shiv Nadar University. He has considerable research and teaching experience in the discipline of International Relations (IR) and takes a special interest in the evolution and instantiation of the discipline of International Relations in India. He is currently co-series editor (along with Professor Himadeep Muppidi of Vassar College, NY and Professor Raymond Duvall of the University of Minnesota) of Critical Global Thought published by Oxford University Press. Mallavarapu has also been a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Global Cooperation Research, Duisburg and a Visiting Professor at Sciences Po, Paris. He was an editorial board member from July 1, 2018 to December 1, 2021 for the journal Global Perspectives (specifically for the section on ‘Global Change and Sustainability Transformations: Technology-Society Interfaces’) published by the University of California Press. He has also served as an Adjunct Fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) for a period of two years and also been a member of the editorial team of the journal Strategic Analysis and the Indian Journal of International Law.
Dr. Mallavarapu has been interviewed on Theory Talks on February 9, 2014 (#63), http://www.theory-talks.org/. and E-IR <https://www.e-ir.info/> on May 27, 2018 and has also contributed to the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. He is the author of Banning the Bomb: The Politics of Norm Creation, two co-edited anthologies on International Relations in India (with Kanti Bajpai), a co-edited book titled International Relations: Perspectives for the Global South (with B.S.Chimni) as well as assorted journal articles. He has contributed theoretical chapters to two Oxford Handbooks, one on Indian Foreign Policy (2015) and the other on India’s National Security (2018). Mallavarapu has also contributed chapters to The Sage Handbook of Political Science (2020) and the Routledge Handbook of Critical International Relations Theory (2019). A recent piece of his has appeared in the Sage journal China Report (2020) and another has appeared in the journal Global Constitutionalism (2020) published by Cambridge University Press. His most recent publication is a book chapter titled 'Imperialism, International Law and War: Enduring Legacies and Curious Entanglements' that appeared in a co-edited book by Lothar Brock and Hendrik Simon titled The Justification of War and International Order: From Past to Present published by Oxford University Press in 2021.

- 2018 - 2021 Invited as editorial board member from 1 July 2018 to 31, December 2021 for the journal Global Perspectives (specifically for the section on ‘Global Change and Sustainability Transformations: Technology-Society Interfaces’) published by the University of California Press.
- 2018 Invited as a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board, Centre for Global Cooperation Research, Germany.
- 2016 Visiting Professor at Sciences Po, Paris. Offered lectures in March 2016 on ‘Theorizing Security in Asia’.
- 2013 - 2014 Kate Hamburger Senior Fellow (June to August 2013 and May to July 2014) at the Centre for Global Cooperation, Duisburg-Essen, Germany.

Dr. Saurabh Tewari is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Design at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, where he leads DeSH Lab (Design Studies/History Lab). Saurabh has a teaching and research experience of 14+ years elaborating the discourse on Design History, Design and Architecture Studies. In 2018, he co-initiated the Master of Design programme at the School of Planning and Architecture Bhopal with an integral focus on Socio-Cultural Design. He has published various threads of Design, sustainability, and urbanism. He has co-edited India's first publication on the emerging field of Landscape Urbanism, Blue Lines of Kolkata (2017).
Dr. Saurabh is a recipient of various research and travel fellowships from national and global institutions, including the Earth Institute at Columbia University, the USA in 2007; Department of Science and Technology MHRD, Government of India 2008-10; UNESCO/UNEP/BMU TU Dresden, Germany 2010; DRONAH Gurgaon, 2011; IIT Kanpur, 2015-17; Design History Society, UK, 2017 and 2019; Society of Architectural Historians, USA, 2018; Environmental Planning & Coordination Organisation, MP, India, 2019; College Art Association & Getty Foundation, 2020, Distinguished Alumnus Award by IDC School of Design IIT Bombay in 2020 and most recently, Outstanding PhD Thesis Award from IIT Kanpur.

Dr. Avnish Kshatriya has over 28 years of diverse & global experience across India, US, UK & Europe in Digital Transformation, working with 30+ Fortune-500 clients/organizations across industry verticals. He has played a spectrum of leadership & specialist roles and driven initiatives for the key business functions covering Strategy, Delivery, Operations, HR, Finance & Sales. He comes with a successful track record of incubation & scaling up enterprise-wide Digital capabilities & solutions, especially on new-age technologies & domains, into P&L-driven practices and service delivery functions. Dr. Avnish is currently the Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO) at Trilegal - one of the leading Legal services firms in India – in an industry poised for value unlocking through disruptive transformation. His charter entails driving the firm’s Digital roadmap through Technology-led initiatives to enable the reimagination of core Processes & People practices – with a special focus on Data, Analytics & AI. He demonstrates a strong acumen for business-IT aligned cross-functional problem-solving through the leverage of technology, process, people & ecosystems. He’s a growth mindset-oriented professional – a lifelong learner, an alumnus of prestigious DTU (Delhi Technological University), IIM-Bangalore & Indian Institute of Science (IISC).
