The second year of the MBA (Communications Management) program at FLAME University has Capstone Courses, Specialization Courses from various communication and marketing domains, Open Elective Courses, Liberal Education Courses and the Graduation Project.
Capstone Courses are a set of mandatory general communications management courses which provide holistic understanding of the communications domain. MBA (Communications Management) students are expected to complete five (5) Capstone Courses in their second year.
During the second year, MBA (Communications Management) students have to mandatorily declare/choose their major from: Advertising and Branding, Film and Television Management and Digital Marketing and Communications. MBA (Communications Management) students have a choice to declare/choose their minor from: Advertising and Branding; Film and Television Management; Digital Marketing and Communications; Human Resource Management; Operations; and Entrepreneurship. To earn a major, a student has to complete no less than six (6) courses and normally not more than eight (8) from a particular field of specialization. To earn a minor, a student has to complete no less than four (4) courses from a particular field of specialization. For the remaining courses, students may choose Open Elective Courses from different business/communications management domains as per their interest. It is not mandatory to declare/choose a major or minor. Students who do not declare a major, a minor or both, will have meet their MBA (Communications Management) program requirements by choosing Open Elective Courses subject to prerequisites.
Liberal Education Courses in the second year include courses in interdisciplinary areas. MBA (Communications Management) students are expected to complete four (4) Liberal Education Courses out of which two (2) need to be in foreign languages (two [2] levels in any one foreign language) in their second year.
Finally, all MBA (Communications Management) students are mandated to complete an independent Graduation Project. The objective is to let a student conceive and complete, within the given time frame, a major project, in the area of his/her specialization, using all his/her learning during the two-year MBA (Communications Management) program and to create a document (and a film, if relevant,) that showcases his/her learning to the industry where he/she seeks to make a career. For students majoring in Advertising and Branding and Digital Marketing and Communications, the project should have a research component and a strategic analysis component. The research work must include detailed market investigation, including primary field survey wherever required, and interviews with concerned parties and experts. The strategy component must include detailed analysis and a set of recommendations to achieve the objective. For students specializing in Film and Television Management, the project should have a project proposal as well as a completed independent fiction film or a documentary film.
