Cinematography

Cinematography is the process of capturing a vision on film or video. As both an art and a craft it is a dynamic process that involves the composition of light, shadow, time and movement. For the cinematographer this requires a synthesis of technical skills and creative sensibility.
The Cinematography course is specifically designed to give filmmaker students insights into video or digital cinematography. This is accomplished through theoretical and practical exercises as well as extensive “hands-on” work where students will shoot their classmates’ productions allowing the students to master the technical and aesthetic principals of Cinematography.

Editing and Sound Design

If shooting is like generating the raw material of a film, the edit table is where the film finds its final processed and packaged form. The art of editing, no longer an invisible art as it used to be, is perhaps the very essence of film making. The editor is the one who makes the final cut with the help of the director about what needs to be seen and heard in a film, while also controlling its rhythm and pace. Extremely technical and yet tremendously artistic, film editing is creatively satisfying. Sound Recording and Track Design and Mixing in present times are a job of a specialized sound recordist. Most modern systems are nowadays equipped with sophisticated sound processors to enable recordists to generate professional sound tracks and mixes. A sound recordist must therefore understand both technically and aesthetically the requirements of sound track design and mixing. All four components of audio track design - dialogue, sync effects, non-sync effects, and music must be understood independently and then together as part of the overall image making process of films.
